BigBlueButton (BBB) is an open-source web conferencing solution with additional functions for digital courses.

It is suitable for web conferences with up to 50 passive and 20 active participants. Through integration with other CMS offerings for digital teaching, BBB conferences can be created directly from Moodle. Collaboration functions such as breakout rooms, shared notes and voting enable interactive teaching events.

The service is operated on HU servers and thus meets all data protection requirements.

 

Application scenarios:

  • Lectures and seminars
  • Conferences with increased data protection requirements
  • Committee work

Restrictions:

  • Powerful PCs or laptops required; the more active participants, the more powerful all devices must be
  • An HU account or a Moodle account is required to set up a BBB conference
  • Participation in web conference via telephone is
